Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced STARLIMS Senior Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of laboratory information management solutions.
This role will drive STARLIMS implementations, integrations, and optimizations, ensuring scalable, compliant, and high-performing systems that support enterprise laboratory operations. You will work closely with business stakeholders, lab users, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions in a global, hybrid environment.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Implementation
- Lead end-to-end STARLIMS implementations and rollouts across enterprise environments
- Define and deliver solution architectures aligned with business and regulatory requirements
- Perform gap assessments and fitment analysis for business use cases
Development & Customization
- Design and develop custom STARLIMS applications (v12 or higher) using HTML forms, Sencha framework, and SSL
- Build and deploy solutions on AWS cloud environments
- Deliver enhancements focused on performance, scalability, and maintainability
Integration & Data Management
- Design and implement REST API–driven integrations using STARLIMS framework
- Lead instrument integrations using multiple methods:
- API-based integrations
- Middleware/protocol-driven methods
- Data Capture Utility (DCU), SDMS
- Serial/port-based communication
- Support data migration and transformation initiatives
Platform Optimization & Architecture
- Conduct architecture reviews and performance tuning
- Drive technical debt reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
- Optimize application performance and data processing workflows
Regulatory Compliance & Validation
- Ensure compliance with GxP, CSV, and GAMP 5 (Category 5) standards
- Implement system changes in controlled and validated environments
- Maintain documentation aligned with audit and regulatory requirements
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Lead functional workshops with lab users and business stakeholders
- Provide product consulting and best-practice recommendations
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business users
Advanced Capabilities & Innovation
- Develop integrations with MES systems using tools like Boomi, MuleSoft, or HighByte
- Utilize STARLIMS Advanced Analytics modules
- Develop scripts for complex instrument integrations (e.g., HPLC, Torque, Auto Titrator, CarboQC, DMA)
Leadership & Delivery
- Serve as an onsite technical lead, coordinating with offshore teams
- Mentor team members and drive knowledge sharing and best practices
- Support Agile delivery processes using tools like JIRA
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience with STARLIMS (v12 or higher)
- Strong experience in STARLIMS implementation, customization, and deployment
- Expertise in STARLIMS REST API framework and integrations
- Proven experience with instrument integration techniques
- Experience deploying STARLIMS solutions on AWS cloud
- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and database optimization
- Solid understanding of STARLIMS architecture, data model, and server configurations
- Experience with Agile methodologies and JIRA
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across global teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with STARLIMS QM Dictionary (v12.2 or higher)
- Hands-on experience integrating with MES systems (Boomi, MuleSoft, HighByte)
- Experience with Bartender label printing and Crystal Reports
- Knowledge of STARLIMS Advanced Analytics module
- Domain experience in Food & Beverages (particularly distilleries)
- Experience integrating STARLIMS with SAP, ETQ, or other enterprise systems
- Experience working with plant operations teams
Compensation
- Base Salary Range: $115,000 – $125,000 per year
- Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and location
- Eligible for performance-based bonuses and incentive compensation
